If you just download embroidery designs, rename them and store them in one folder, you will end up with a lot of files in a single folder, so you probably set up some subdirectories, sub subdirectories, and so on. That way, if you obtain a new embroidery machine that reads a different file type, you can access the designs in other formats and don’t have to bother with converting it yourself.

Since you can always extract the ZIP file again, you can throw away all the file formats that don’t to pertain to your machine. Once you extract the zip file, the folder will inherit the name of the ZIP file. So, for example, you would have all of Machine Embroidery Geek embroidery designs clumped together. If you name all of the downloaded file names starting with the name of the company you bought it from, all of the files from the same company will be grouped together when you sort them by name.
